Lawtech Software Group, was honoured to attend the prestigious Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards 2024. This esteemed event, held at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of legal professionals and firms to the industry and community.
This year’s awards were particularly special, not only celebrating professional excellence across 14 categories but also introducing three new awards: Outstanding Student Contribution, Legal PA, and Junior Barrister, thereby broadening the scope of recognition within our vibrant legal community.
Shoosmiths shone brightly on the evening, with Shereen Johal clinching Solicitor of the Year and firm itself winning the National Law Firm of the Year Award. Other winners on the evening includes The University of Law’s Eleanor Ford who collected the Outstanding Student Contribution award. In addition to this, Sarah Ramsey, with nearly seven years as dean of The University of Law in Birmingham, received the Lifetime Achievement Award, highlighting her significant impact on legal education and the broader legal community.
Pinsent Masons‘ Ellie Brookes was named Apprentice of the Year, showcasing the firm’s commitment to nurturing new talent. Gateley Legal also had a remarkable night, winning awards for Diversity and Inclusion and Trainee Solicitor of the Year, a testament to their dedication to fostering an inclusive environment and supporting the next generation of legal professionals.
Alice Kinder, president of the Birmingham Law Society, praised the event for highlighting the diverse talent within the region and reinforcing Birmingham’s status as a leading legal hub. “The Legal Awards have once again exemplified the diverse range of talent in our region and placed Birmingham firmly on the map as a dynamic, progressive and influential legal hub. “I am delighted that this year we have been able to reward talent in three brand new categories and ensure that every contribution to our profession can be appropriately recognised.
“I hope that, by celebrating these achievements, we can continue to set an inspiring precedent for future generations. While talent is everywhere, opportunity is not and as established professionals, we must work together to change that.”
The awards underscore the importance of creating opportunities for all, aligning with the Society’s support for the Social Mobility Foundation, this year’s chosen charity, in its efforts to open up career paths for those from diverse backgrounds. In total, the event raised £3,080 for the Social Mobility Foundation.
